Dominoes and Hotpot Supper 2024

Dominoes and Hotpot Supper

Many thanks to Colin James for running the evening and making sure everything was in order and that people understood what they were doing, (well hopefully!). Thanks also to everyone who helped to organise the evening and to all those who helped on the evening to make it a success once again. The evening raised a very useful £425 for club funds.

Congratulations to Mike Warwick who was chosen as the Most Improved Player of the year 2024. Vera Alderson, the Club Captain, presented the award to Mike at the A.G.M. pointing out that Mike had won 75% of the matches in which he’d played, and that he’d come third in the Division 5 Merits. Well done!

On Sunday 8th December over twenty club members gathered for what has become the annual mince Pies and Music social afternoon. On a cold afternoon members were welcomed with well received warmed mulled wine. After chatting with friends for a while the refreshments on the table began to look more and more enticing, and people more and more mutinous, until the Chair was compelled to say that we could tuck in. Once again, bashful though he is, Mike the Maestro was persuaded to entertain us with a virtuoso performance of a wide variety of Christmas music and songs. Another successful event in the social calendar of a friendly club!

Fish ‘n Chips ‘n Games

Fish ‘n Chips and Games

A message from Robin, our Chair.

‘Seaside fish and chips met childhood games in the clubhouse as members enjoyed an evening of nostalgia comprising of a fish supper and parlour games that brought back lots of memories and introduced some to a new experience. Colin introduced games where grown-ups competed against each other to complete a drawing of a beetle, and other members tried to collect Dickensian named families.

Everyone enjoyed the evening, with lots of fun and laughter.

Thanks go to Colin for organising and managing the games, to Louise and Martin for sorting out the fish suppers, and to John and Martin for being the delivery men.’
