Welcome to Heversham Bowling Club. A place to make and meet friends.

‘A great asset for the community.’

‘Plenty of advice and encouragement, but no negativity if you mess up. A very social club.’

‘I was made welcome from the day I joined.’

A very friendly club. What did we do before bowling? We’re both enjoying bowling for Heversham Bowling Club.

‘A chance to learn a new skill.’

‘From day one we felt welcomed. We enjoy both the social side and competing as part of a team. It’s nice to have a hobby as a couple, except when we beat each other !!’

Division Two
Divisional Championship

Thirty two bowlers who had been nominated to play took part in the Kendal League Division Two ‘play-offs’ on our green. After a day of excellent bowling the finalists were Paul Thompson and Martin Wilson with Paul being the champion.

Members of the club worked hard to ensure that everything ran smoothly which led to the comments received being once again very complimentary – the event was extremely well organised; the catering was excellent; the green was in terrific condition.

September Round Robin

With a ring of the bell at 1.30pm John Smith, who organised the Round Robin, called the players to order. John said that the competition should finish at 5.22pm. John again called the players to order in order to announce the results – the time precisely 5.22pm!!

This time 16 players entered the competition. After an afternoon’s bowling a splendid Jacob’s Join afternoon tea was enjoyed by everyone.

Louise and Charles were the winners. Helen and Robin, Margaret and Martin tied on 9 points each. It was decided that a sudden death tie-break was needed at which point the club house emptied as everyone poured outside to watch the result. Robin and Helen won the tie-break and therefore were the runners-up.

Below on the left you can see Louise and Charles and on the right Helen and Robin.

Rural Team’s Fun Evening

On Friday 13th September the Rural Team issued an open invitation to club members to join them for a fun evening of bowling. Ian Telford, who organised the evening, writes, ‘The end of season rural social was enjoyed by 15 bowlers who played to some unusual rules followed by drinks and nibbles. The winner on the night was Julie.’ Comments from members include: ‘Great fun. Thanks Ian’; ‘Good fun tonight Ian thanks’; ‘Fun filled evening’; ‘Great night, thanks Ian and Alison for organising it all’; ‘Not sure if I’m right or left handed now! It was a good night we must make it a regular event. Thanks to all concerned.’
